Alexei Texler Announces Over 700 km of Road Repairs in Chelyabinsk Region

The road infrastructure of Chelyabinsk Oblast will continue to be actively updated. This year, it is planned to repair over 700 km of federal, regional, and municipal roads. Governor Alexei Texler announced this. The head of the region emphasized: road workers need to deploy equipment as soon as the snow melts, to work ahead of schedule and accomplish as much as possible.

More Than Half the Equator

The road framework of Chelyabinsk Oblast is a colossal transport artery. Its total length is over 27,000 kilometers. This is more than half the length of the Earth«s equator.
The network combines federal highways, regional routes, and municipal roads. Every day, thousands of heavy trucks and passenger cars travel on the region«s highways. The serious load and scale require great responsibility.
«In recent years, we have maintained a fast pace of repair and construction of new highways, which we will keep up this year. In total, we plan to repair over 700 kilometers of roads,» Alexei Texler specified.
Which Roads Are Planned for Updates
Among the key facilities planned for update in 2026 are: completion of major repairs on the roads from Khalitovo to Bayazitova, Tselinny to Kosobrodka, and a section of the highway from Krasnoufimsk to Arti to Nyazepetrovsk to Verkhny Ufaley to Kasli.
Repairs will continue on important directions: Novokaolinovy to Kizilchilik to Peschanka, Verkhneuralsk to Petropavlovsky to the highway from Yuzhnouralsk to Magnitogorsk, and Pervukha to Meseda to Tyulyuk.
Socially significant projects will be updated: roads in the Uysky and Oktyabrsky districts.
In Chelyabinsk, construction of the overpass in Novosineglazovo will continue, as well as repairs to the bridge on Cherkasskaya Street and repairs to Kopeyskoye Highway. A new section of the federal highway M-5 near Kropachevo in the Ashinsky District will appear.
Additionally, the head of the region announced the launch of a large-scale three-year program to update the road network in the southern districts of the oblast. It is planned to bring about 200 km of road surface into proper condition. This will improve transport accessibility in the southern territories.
To not only implement what is planned but also expand the list of updated facilities, road services in Chelyabinsk Oblast have been instructed to start work on the highways at the first signs of spring.
«I set the task for the road industry to start work in spring, as soon as the weather allows. This is important for residents, plus it gives an opportunity to do more, beyond the plan,» the governor emphasized.
Main Task – Comfort for Residents
The governor noted that not only the roads are changing for the better, but also the quality of their maintenance. This is partly thanks to new snow removal equipment that has arrived in the municipalities.
The company MostDorStroy, which has been a partner of Chelyabinsk Oblast for over two decades, ensures safe passage on the most important federal and regional arteries 24/7.
«Daily and around the clock, to ensure safe passage, we have over 100 units of equipment on duty, including combined road vehicles, MTZ tractors, graders, and front-end loaders. More than 500 people work on the maintenance complex. Special attention is paid to cleaning the surface during snowfalls. The main task of road services is for residents and guests of our oblast to be able to move comfortably and safely across the territory,» noted Alexei Markin, deputy director of LLC MostDorStroy.
Safe at Any Time of Day
Roads are not only smooth surfaces but also lighting. Making municipal and regional highways safe in the dark is the task of the «Bright Region» project. Under the program, five new sections of highways, about nine kilometers long, will be «lit up» this year. About 180 stationary electric lighting fixtures will be installed on them.
«Lighting will appear on three sections of the road from Chebarkul to Uyskoye to Surmenevsky to Magnitogorsk. Drivers will likely appreciate the sections of roads bypassing Chebarkul, as well as on the direction from Dolgoderevenskoye to Argayash to Kuznetskoye to Kyshtym,» clarified the oblast«s Ministry of Road Infrastructure and Transport.
Moreover, the Ministry of Transport is developing new project documentation for installing lighting on another 13.4 km of roads. This means that thousands of drivers and pedestrians should get comfortable conditions for evening and night trips.
What Was Achieved Last Season
Last year, according to assessments by relevant agencies, was productive. Dozens and hundreds of kilometers of new surface appeared where once there were only directions.
On the federal highway M-5 «Ural» in the Ashinsky District, a new 14 km section was opened. A modern four-lane highway on the direction from Krasnoye Pole to Poletaevo was put into operation. Repairs were completed on the section of the road from Pervukha to Meseda to Tyulyuk. Residents of Magnitogorsk welcomed the opening of the substantially repaired Northern Bridge over the Ural River – one of the most important transport arteries of the metallurgical city.
In total, in 2025, about 726 km of roads were updated. The oblast has maintained this pace for five years in a row. For comparison: in 2019, this figure was 2.5 times lower – the length of repaired roads barely reached 300 km.
