26 Children Injured in Kirov Road Accidents
Since the beginning of 2026, 26 children under 16 have been injured in road accidents in the Kirov region. Most of these accidents, as in previous periods, are due to negligence and disregard for rules by adult drivers. Typical violations include:
Loss of control leading to rollover or collision;
Driving into oncoming traffic;
Failure to maintain a safe distance;
Failure to observe right-of-way.
Due to such actions, child passengers suffer physical and psychological injuries, sometimes becoming disabled or dying. This year, 14 minor passengers have already been injured, with Tuesday being the most dangerous day of the week for this category. A significant increase in the number of injured child pedestrians has also been noted.
In total, 12 minor pedestrians have been injured this year. In nearly half the cases, accidents occurred due to the inattention of the children themselves, who, copying adult behavior, ran across the road outside a crosswalk or suddenly emerged from behind obstacles blocking the view.
The most dangerous days for child pedestrians were Thursday and Friday.
Disregard for traffic rules and lack of road safety culture remain key causes of accidents involving minors. Road safety, including for children, directly depends on the discipline, attentiveness, and responsibility of adults.
