23-Year-Old Rifleman Killed in Ukraine Laid to Rest

Dmitry Svinin was laid to rest a year after his death in the special military operation.
In the Sredneakhtubinsky District of Volgograd Oblast, a farewell was held for 23-year-old rifleman Dmitry Svinin, who was killed in Ukraine. The young man voluntarily entered the zone of the special military operation (SVO) but died tragically in March last year. Dmitry«s mother did not wait for her son and passed away a few months before his funeral.
The administration of the Kletsky rural settlement announced Dmitry Svinin«s death the day before.
«It is with great sorrow that I inform you that our fellow villager, Dmitry Alexandrovich Svinin, died while performing his military duty. He gave his life for his homeland, honorably fulfilling his military duty. We offer our condolences to his family and friends.»
As the settlement head German Shakhabov told V1.RU, Dmitry grew up in a large family and was the eldest. After school, he joined the army and then worked at a factory in Volzhsky.
«Two sisters and a brother are left among his relatives. He was the eldest in the family. He has no one else. His mother died about three months ago. She did not immediately learn that he had left. I think after he went missing, she took to her bed.»
On 18 September 2024, Dmitry signed a contract and went to the SVO zone, where he served as a rifleman. For some time he was considered missing in action, but in March last year his family learned that Dmitry had died.
«He was a normal young guy. Friendly, welcoming, sociable. He is our 14th casualty in the settlement, the youngest,» says German Shakhabov. «He said, »I must be there too.« How he died, under what circumstances, we do not know. There is no information.»
Dmitry Svinin was buried in the Repino hamlet next to his mother.
