Nikolai Zlydnev, a resident of the Leninsky District in Volgograd Oblast known on social media as «Village Guy», explained a simple method for salting fish. He noted that any large fish is suitable for this recipe, and the process is so simple that even a beginner can handle it.

For salting, you will need:

  • large fish (for example, asp, bream, or chub);
  • salt;
  • wooden or paper boxes;
  • a weight.

«The recipe for the most delicious fish. We salt either in a wooden box or, as we do, in paper ones. We lay plywood on the bottom. Holes must be made in the bottom, and we cover it well with salt. For salting, asp, bream, or chub are best. We cover the fish well with salt. We place a heavier weight and forget about it for 21 days if the fish is large,» explains the village blogger. «After about three weeks, we take out the fish. It should be firm. If it»s soft, it means you didn«t maintain the temperature regime, or the weight was too light. We wash the fish thoroughly with a brush and let it soak for about an hour. Once dried, we cut it into pieces. This is the kind of delicacy you get. With potatoes, bread — it»s just the thing!«

According to Zlydnev, properly prepared fish turns out tender and perfectly salted. He recommends serving it with boiled potatoes and black bread.
