Last weekend, we shared photos from our reader — she prepares mountains of pelmeni every year for the January holidays. We asked readers if they make such stocks, and it seems we«ve opened a portal to the pelmeni dimension.

It turns out that for many people, making pelmeni is a genuine family tradition. We collected photos of giant stocks and heartwarming stories from Tyumen residents about pelmeni.

Thus, women from Tyumen shared sets of meat-and-dough products that fill their freezers. As you can see, their number approaches infinity. This, it is believed, will be a great help for lazy holiday weekends when you don«t want to get out from under the blanket.

But not only pelmeni do Tyumen housewives plan to feed their households. For example, in these photos we see hundreds of manti (steamed dumplings) and chebureki (fried meat pastries) — large and certainly very tasty.

For many, making pelmeni is a great reason to spend time together. For example, our reader Alena shared a photo from such an event.

«We»re making, making,« captioned the photo a Tyumen woman.

Here is what reader Vera told us.

«I always make pelmeni for New Year»s — for 62 years now, that is since I was 5 years old. I haven«t missed a single year without making homemade pelmeni,» says the Tyumen woman.

«It»s not about the pelmeni themselves, but about communication. A couple of years ago, we sat down to make them with the family, hands busy, phones somewhere lying around — we had such a splendid chat with the kids and grandparents. We need to repeat it,« wrote Yevgeny.

«I always used to make pelmeni with my parents. It was a tradition. Dad would count the pelmeni, and the goal was to make a thousand. Now my parents are gone, and I don»t do it myself,« shared Larisa.

«We also make pelmeni, about 500–600 pieces with my husband. Now, while visiting in Bashkortostan, we made 700 pieces for my sister,» answered another Tyumen woman.

«Pelmeni are associated with my grandfather for me. He loved pelmeni, loved making them and gathering everyone at the table. Grandpa died of cancer several years ago, but we still try to make these traditional treats for him at least once a year,» told another one of our readers.

Earlier, we asked Tyumen residents to show the contents of their freezers. There was so much interesting stuff that we couldn«t resist and put together a selection — see it here.
