Toxic Aloe Vera drink found in Tomsk stores, dangerous batches listed

In Tomsk, bottles of «Aloe Vera» were removed from sale after dangerous substances were found in them. This was reported by the press service of Rospotrebnadzor (the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-being).

Control purchases were made in five stores in the region. More than 20 bottles of products banned from sale were found on sale. All of them were removed from sale and destroyed.

The incident with the «Aloe Vera» drink began in December. A boy bought it in one of the «Magnit» stores in New Moscow and, after taking one sip, felt a burning sensation in his mouth. The bottle itself smelled of acetone. After that, the parents decided to check other samples from the same production date — the liquid also had a specific smell.

After that, Rospotrebnadzor began an inspection at the «Velza-Penza» enterprise, where the drink is produced. In samples from 11 August 2025, 5 October 2025, 10 December 2025, 16 December 2025, and 21 December 2025 volatile organic compounds were found. They were also found in the concentrate used in the production of «Aloe Vera». Currently, specialists continue to investigate the products, including for undeclared substances.

Since December 26, the activities of the Penza plant have been suspended, and selling the product is prohibited both in stores and on online platforms. Residents who notice it on supermarket shelves are asked to report it to Rospotrebnadzor authorities.
