The agency included dried fruits in the list of healthy sweets — dates, raisins, apricots, prunes, and berry mixes.
“They contain fiber, antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, which are beneficial for immunity, heart health, brain function, skin, and normalizing intestinal function,” the agency noted.
Nuts are another suitable alternative. They are very nutritious, containing a lot of protein, vitamins, essential fatty acids, and trace elements.
Chocolate lovers should prefer dark bars with more than 72% cocoa beans.
“It is rich in phosphorus, calcium, and potassium, contains vitamins, and in small amounts iron, magnesium, sodium, and other trace elements. However, it should not be overconsumed: the daily norm for dark chocolate is no more than 30 grams,” Rospotrebnadzor noted.
Honey is also considered a healthy sweet, as it has antioxidant properties, strengthens immunity, and normalizes gastrointestinal function. Marshmallows and pastila (a fruit-based confection) are suitable, but one should choose confections without sugar, additives, and chocolate coating.
Natural marmalade made from berries and fruits rich in vitamins is beneficial.
“Jam and jellies. Ideally, if they are preserves in their own juice with minimal added sugar. In this form, fruits and berries retain their beneficial properties. Additionally, one can pay attention to natural syrups, smoothies, urbech (a paste of ground seeds or nuts), nut butters, and muesli,” added Rospotrebnadzor.
The agency reminds that reducing sugar in the diet helps prevent cardiovascular diseases and overall body health, aids in restoring the balance of calcium and B vitamins, normalizes weight, improves skin condition, and increases energy levels.
