Rospotrebnadzor Discovers Toxic Baby Formula in Tomsk Stores

Sanitary inspectors found Nestle dry formula with a dangerous toxin in seven Tomsk stores. This is stated in a message from Rospotrebnadzor.

«To date, 193 stores have been inspected, and seven retail outlets in Tomsk Oblast have been issued orders to suspend the sale of the specified products,» the message says.
Information about the ban on the formula has been sent to the regional health department, children«s medical organizations, as well as social institutions.
On January 6, the import was suspended into Russia of eight types of Nestle dry baby formula due to the detection of the toxin cereulide. This concerns products manufactured from April 15 to November 27, 2025. The toxin was found in raw materials from an external supplier of the company. It concerns vegetable oils.
Cereulide is a toxin produced by some strains of the bacterium Bacillus cereus. It is heat-resistant and can cause rapid development of food poisoning symptoms: nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea. These usually appear within the first six hours after consuming the product. It poses particular danger to infants with immature immune systems.
The import of formulas NAN 1 OPTIPRO, NAN 2 OPTIPRO, NAN Supreme, NAN EXPERPRO, NAN lactose-free, PreNAN, Nestogen Comfort, and Alfare Amino into Russia is prohibited.
The Nestle company on its official website listed the batch numbers that it decided to recall from sale.
