Residents of one of Samara«s districts might have to refrain from street food for a while. The reasons for needing to reconsider their eating habits were explained by the regional Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD).

A few days ago, together with fighters from the Special Purpose Mobile Unit (OMON, riot police), they conducted a raid to suppress violations of migration legislation. The security forces checked one of the organized trading points. What was seen in the kiosk could spoil the appetite for a long time.

«Just now, I walked in, and a rat like this is running over this meat,» said one of the police officers.

His colleagues also checked the documents and legality of stay in the country for more than a hundred people. They managed to find five illegal foreigners. Moreover, some of them tried to hide from the police, but they were caught.

«During the interrogation, the violators said they did not stop at the police»s request because they were afraid of punishment. Currently, the issue of holding their unscrupulous employers accountable, who illegally employed foreign citizens, is being resolved,« explained the security forces.

Unsanitary conditions in such pavilions are, unfortunately, not rare. A few years ago in Samara, a kiosk near the Central Universal Store (TSUM) made headlines. According to local residents, rats were running over the meat and vegetables. After media exposure, the kiosk was shut down. Four years later, Samara residents again complained about the area.
