Powerhouse Club May Close After 12 Years on Taganka

The Powerhouse club team on Taganka has announced the possible closure of the project after 12 years. The reason is a large amount of debt, rising prices, and a decrease in the average check amount.

«Over the last difficult 6 years, you have saved us more than once, and this gave us the strength to fight — to live our sincere musical life with you somewhere in the relative economic zero between summer and winter, big events and indie gigs,» said representatives of Powerhouse. «Perhaps somewhere we could have been more clever, made different decisions, sold [assets] or sold out in time. What is happening around us now is generally clear. But what happens next depends on how you would like to answer this question. Without you, we wouldn»t have existed and we won«t exist.»

Now the team of the «House of Power» plans to hold a series of events to cover the accumulated debts.

Powerhouse Moscow is a project by DJ Andrey Algoritmik and friends that opened in 2013. In a mansion on Goncharnaya Street, it combines jazz concerts and electronic music parties. In the summer, the main attraction is the backyard, where a veranda is opened.

The legal owner, LLC «Silnoye Mesto» (Strong Place), has been operating since June 2013. It is managed by Andrey Galperovich (Algoritmik), Arkadiy Zeltser, and Yu Song E. At the end of 2024, the company reported a net profit of 487 thousand rubles (approx. $5,600 at current rates) on revenue of 122.5 million rubles (approx. $1.4 million). The affairs of the club«s other legal entity are even worse — LLC »Mesto Sily« (Place of Power) showed a net loss of 1.1 million rubles (approx. $12,700) according to 2021 data.

In early January, the Blanc restaurant closed in Kitay-Gorod after eight years of operation.
