We have a recipe for tired people returning home after a workout, which might follow a workday. This warm, protein-packed dish takes only 10 minutes to prepare. Here, we introduce fried cottage cheese.

The name might sound unusual, but once you try it, you«ll want to make it again. Plus, the ingredients for this healthy treat are budget-friendly. You»ll need salt, pepper, dried cilantro, parsley sprigs (or more cilantro), vegetable oil, a cucumber, and, of course, cottage cheese. Important: use only fat-free cottage cheese, as even 5% fat content could cause it to melt away on a hot pan. High-quality fat-free cottage cheese will hold up better.

Preparation

Step 1

Turn the stove to medium-high heat and heat vegetable oil in a pan. I usually pour it by eye, but it«s about two to three tablespoons. Don»t leave the stove on for long — after a minute, boldly add the cottage cheese, remembering to stir.

A 360-gram package of cottage cheese usually lasts me for two servings. So, if you«re cooking for one person, you can put half in the pan.

Step 2

Before your eyes, a cloudy yellowish liquid will start to appear in the pan — this is whey, the liquid left in cottage cheese after separating from milk. Fat-free cottage cheese has a lot of it, so it releases quickly when heated.

Wait until half of the whey evaporates, then add one egg per 180 grams of cottage cheese. Quickly mix the cottage cheese with the egg; if you miss the egg setting, you might end up with scrambled eggs and cottage cheese crumbs.

Step 3

Into the resulting mixture, add salt, pepper, and dried cilantro, measuring by eye. Sometimes at this stage, you can add a few mozzarella balls, but it«s optional — not everyone will notice the melted cheese in the dish.

Fry everything together until all the liquid has evaporated. How to tell — it»s shown in the photo. At the very end, add torn parsley or cilantro leaves to give the dish freshness.

Step 4

Place the fried cottage cheese on a plate, along with cucumber slices and toast from the toaster — this will make it more interesting. Tasty, quick, and you won«t even have to scrub the pan. Enjoy your meal.
