The dessert with the amusing name «banana house» is well-known to many residents of the former Soviet Union — such a simple cake was enjoyed by the whole family.

Northerner Natalya Bogdanova shared the recipe for the «house» and showed photos of the preparation process — even a child can handle it.

What you«ll need: shortbread cookies (any kind), two bananas, a can of condensed milk, butter (200 g), milk (0.5 l), a bag or plastic wrap.

How to prepare?

  1. Pour milk into a deep container and heat it in the microwave — in warm milk, the cookies soak faster.

  2. Cut the bag to make a large rectangle, spread it on the table.

  3. Dip the cookies in the warm milk so they soak a bit and become softer, but don«t fall apart and keep their shape.

  4. Mix soft butter with a can of condensed milk — the cream is ready.

  5. Lay out the cookies five or six in a row, one after another. Step back one centimeter, lay out the second row, and after another centimeter — the third row.

  6. Spread with cream and repeat the layers of soaked cookies and cream. You need to make three layers of cookies and cream (the top layer is cream).

  7. Place whole peeled bananas on the middle row.

  8. Using the bag, fold the outer rows so that it forms a »little hut« with the banana inside — a triangle. Wrap the bag tightly, you can additionally use plastic wrap so nothing leaks out and it holds its shape.

  9. Put it in the refrigerator to set for three hours. The longer it sits, the more tender it becomes.

After assembling the layers, the dessert is shaped into a triangle and chilled until firm.
