Cucumbers in Kurgan have increased in price by 24.2% in a month. This is according to December data from Sverdlovskstat. A correspondent from 45.RU visited stores in the city to see how steep cucumber prices have become for buyers.

At «Monetka» near «Pushka», smooth cucumbers are sold for about 300 rubles (approximately $3 at current rates) with a discount. However, on the evening of January 19, only one lonely cucumber lay on the counter. Did customers take them all or did employees not have time to restock?

A similar situation is at «Magnit» in «Dom Bita» — in this store, smooth cucumbers are sold by the piece for 124.99 rubles (about $1). Next to them are short-fruited (spiny) cucumbers in packages weighing 450 grams (1 lb). Such packages cost about 270 rubles (approximately $3).

In the Pushkin «Metropolis», a kilogram of smooth cucumbers will cost 209.9 rubles (about $2) — the cheapest!

At «Veles», some of the most expensive cucumbers are sold — a kilogram of smooth and green fruits will cost 377 rubles (approximately $4).

According to the head of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, Oksana Lut, the increase in cucumber prices in Russia is seasonal, and they will start to become cheaper by spring. She stated this to RIA Novosti.

— Of course, but they always, every year they become more expensive and cheaper for us. This is a seasonal story. This year they have become a bit more expensive than last year. But in any case, as soon as the open-ground season approaches, of course, we will have a decrease, — she said, speaking about the cost of cucumbers, to the RIA Novosti publication.

Previously, 45.RU reported on the sharp increase in prices for tomatoes and cucumbers — the latter on average began to cost over 270 rubles per kilogram.
