FAS Probes Cucumber Price Hike of 21.3% in Murmansk

Cucumber prices at the start of the year have risen more noticeably than other vegetables. Against this backdrop, the Federal Antimonopoly Service has begun checking prices on protected ground produce. Here is the cost of the in-demand vegetable in Murmansk stores.

Pyaterochka

Short-fruited cucumbers (450 g): about 249.99 RUB (approx. $2 at current rates);
fresh packaged cucumbers «Botanika» (420 g): about 265.99 RUB (approx. $3 at current rates);
long-fruited cucumber Global Village «Agromos» (1 pc.): about 129.99 RUB (approx. $1 at current rates);
Global Village premium gherkins (300 g): about 279.99 RUB (approx. $3 at current rates).

Magnit
Smooth mid-fruited cucumbers (packaged, 600 g): about 189.99 RUB on sale (approx. $2 at current rates);
short-fruited bumpy cucumbers: price varies from 240 to 299 RUB per package depending on the producer (approx. $2 to $3 at current rates);
long-fruited cucumber (1 pc.): about 119.99–135.00 RUB (approx. $1 at current rates).
Perekryostok
Cucumbers from protected ground (450 g): about 139.99 RUB (approx. $1 at current rates);
«Baku» smooth cucumbers, shaker (300 g): about 199.99 RUB (approx. $2 at current rates);
cucumbers grown in protected ground by TSKh (600 g): can be found for about 299 RUB per weight (approx. $3 at current rates);
mid-fruited cucumbers (600 g): available for about 169.99 RUB on sale (approx. $2 at current rates).
According to Rosstat data, in the period from January 1 to 12, 2026, fruit and vegetable products overall became more expensive by 7.9%. The most noticeable increase was recorded for cucumbers—their price increased by 21.3%.
The Federal Antimonopoly Service has sent inquiries to leading greenhouse vegetable producers. The list of companies includes the groups «ROST», «ECO-culture», «Gorkunov», «Magnit», «Greenhouses of the Regions», and «My Summer».
Producers were required to provide information on production and sales volumes, cost level, wholesale release prices, sales profitability, as well as existing sales channels.
The agency emphasized that based on the analysis of the received information, if there are grounds, antimonopoly response measures may be taken.
