FAS Investigates Bread Price Hikes in Yakutia

The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) office in Yakutia will study the justification for price increases on bread and bakery products. The order was given by the central office. This was reported on the agency«s website on February 5.

FAS will check wholesale and retail prices for bread and bakery products made from wheat and rye-wheat flour. All regional producers are subject to the check. The office plans to analyze the financial indicators of bread producers and sellers for 2025.

«If there are grounds, the agency will take antitrust response measures,» the agency«s website states.

Since February 5, the Yakutsk Bread Plant has raised the price of bread and bakery products by 4 to 7% depending on the product category. The Nemyugyunsky Bread Plant increased prices by 2.8% back in January. At the same time, producers noted that another sharp price jump may occur in April due to changes in tax legislation.
