Eggs and Apples Rise: Murmansk Prices Shift

Over the last week of January, retail outlets in the Kola Arctic (Murmansk region) saw a notable redistribution of prices on everyday goods. An analysis carried out by specialists from Murmanskstat (Murmansk Oblast Statistics Service) for the period from 27 January to 2 February showed that some items became significantly more expensive.
It turned out that the strongest price increases were for chicken eggs (+3.7%), apples (+2.8%) and milk (+1.4%). Bakery products also added slightly in price (+1%).
However, the good news is that some products became more affordable: the cost of salt fell significantly (-7.1%), onions (-5.6%), carrots (-3.2%) and potatoes (-2.1%). Rice and millet also fell by about 2%. Other products remained virtually unchanged.
