For your squid salad to be truly tender and juicy, it«s important to master the proper boiling technique. Start by preparing the carcasses: clean them of film, remove the chitinous plates, and cut off the fins. Then, bring water to a boil with added salt and a bay leaf. Dip the squids into the boiling water one by one, but do not boil them—just hold them in the boiling water for exactly 10 seconds. After that, remove the carcass, wait for the water to boil again, and proceed to the next one.
Classic Squid Salad Recipe
After preparing the squid, you can start creating the classic salad. You will need:
300 grams of boiled squid
4 hard-boiled eggs
1 medium onion
Mayonnaise for dressing
Slice the boiled squid into thin strips, dice the eggs, and slice the onion into thin half-rings. To remove excess bitterness from the onion, you can blanch it with boiling water. Gently mix all ingredients in a bowl, dress with mayonnaise (or its lighter alternative—sour cream), salt, and generously season with freshly ground black pepper. For the best flavor, let the salad sit for at least half an hour. This hearty protein dish will be a great addition to your lunch or dinner and will undoubtedly be a hit at any festive table.
