Anti-Hangover Cocktail Recipes from Rostov Bar Managers

The first days of the New Year holidays are one of the most challenging periods of the year. Festive gatherings typically don«t end in one evening. Champagne has already been drunk to the chime of the clock—now it»s time for experiments. We«re sharing some advice from Rostov restaurants on how to prepare alcoholic and anti-hangover cocktails at home.
Bar manager of the restaurants «Larisa Zharit», «Larisa Piet», and «Kazak» Mikhail Grigoryev suggests starting with the French 75 cocktail.
— This is a cocktail based on gin and sparkling wine. It combines gin, sparkling wine, and a sweet-and-sour part.
How to make the French 75 cocktail
You«ll need gin and sparkling wine. Sweet part: sugar syrup is boiled 1 to 1 (sugar and water). You can make it in a small pot at home—literally in five minutes. Sweet-and-sour part: for example, grapefruit juice, squeeze lemon—there are already many options. You can garnish with a slice of lemon or orange.

— It all depends on what you have at home. I would advise making a couple of infusions according to your taste preferences—for example, with mandarin. And then mix in proportions 1 to 3 with tonic. Tonic goes excellently with most infusions, — advises Mikhail.
Also, as a non-alcoholic drink, you can brew mulled wine—the wine in it can be replaced with cherry juice. Another unusual drink could be a mixture of non-alcoholic sparkling wine with mandarin juice and berry syrup.
Classic mulled wine: a bottle of red wine (0.75 L), orange (juice and zest), three tablespoons of honey, spices: two cinnamon sticks, five cloves, a pinch of nutmeg.

— Pickle juice is delicious to drink with bourbon. Pour a shot of bourbon and a shot of cucumber pickle juice. And then take small sips of ten milliliters each alternately. It«s a very cool combination, — advises Mikhail.
If we talk about alcoholic cocktails, you can prepare an unusual green cocktail—to match the color of the New Year tree.
Cocktail «Sorrel-Apple-Lime»: sorrel infusion and sparkling wine need to be mixed. You can garnish with apple chips, a piece of orange, mandarin, or lemon.
If you need to perk up, then Mikhail advises making a coffee-based cocktail: espresso and martini. For it, you«ll need a shaker and ice.
— It will be a combination of coffee, coffee liqueur, and vodka. A very interesting and invigorating story, — Mikhail told the 161.RU editorial team.
Also, you can make an unusual variation of the «Bloody Mary» cocktail.
Variation of the «Bloody Mary» cocktail: tomato juice, Tabasco, bell pepper infusion, and cucumber infusion. Add a little salt and mix. If there«s no cucumber infusion, it can be replaced with pickle juice.
At the restaurant «Sad on line», they advised the 161.RU correspondent to prepare the «Aperol Mango-Passionfruit» cocktail.
— In terms of composition, it«s simple, but at the same time, it»s not classical. It includes classic Aperol, dry sparkling wine, and mango-passionfruit puree in equal proportions. You can garnish with a slice of orange or pineapple, — said the restaurant representative Marina.
As a way to combat hangover, you can drink pickle juice or make an unusual smoothie.
