The Civil Registry Office (ZAGS) of Yakutia has reported on the most popular and rare names for newborns in January 2026. Topping the lists are Mia, Sofia, Lev, and Alexandra. This was announced on the department«s website on February 2.
Other popular names included Adeline, Amelia, Kereli, Arylkhan, Timofey, and Ersan. The rarest names in January were Velina, Katerina, Laura, Snezhana, Juno, Demid, Makar, Nikan, Tamirlan, and Uranus.
Parents may give any name to their child, but it must not consist of numbers, alphanumeric designations, numerals, or symbols; it must not use any characters other than a hyphen, and it must not be obscene or indicate ranks, positions, or titles.
