In Saratov Oblast, there has been a sharp increase in the popularity of the name Tatyana. After decades of decline, the classic name has once again come into fashion among parents. This data is provided by the regional office of the Civil Registry (ZAGS).

According to archival data, the peak popularity of the name occurred in the 1960s and 1970s, when about two thousand girls received it annually. However, by the early 2020s, interest had almost died out: in 2023, the name Tatyana was chosen for only 28 newborns.

The situation has changed drastically over the past two years. In 2024, this name was given to 75 girls, and in 2025 — already 106. Thus, over two years, the popularity of the name has grown almost fourfold.

The department notes that this trend reflects a general return to «beautiful, established names with deep history.» ZAGS experts predict that in the near future, there will once again be many Tatyanas in the region«s kindergartens and schools, which will return the name to the list of the most in-demand.
