St. Petersburg expects autumn-like weather in mid-July

In mid-July, St. Petersburg will experience weather more reminiscent of autumn than summer. This will be caused by a cyclone that has already begun to move into the Baltic region, then cross Leningrad Oblast, and only move to the northeast of European Russia on Thursday. As noted by Mikhail Leus, lead specialist at the FOBOS weather center, this will increase the likelihood of rain, and cloud cover will hinder daytime warming. As a result, the average temperature will be 3–4 degrees below the climatic norm.

Monday, July 20: cloudy with clearings, no precipitation. Daytime temperatures up to +19…+21 °C (66–70 °F). Wind northeast, 5–10 m/s. Atmospheric pressure near normal – 760 mm Hg.

Tuesday, July 21: cloudy, with occasional rain. Nighttime +10…+12 °C (50–54 °F), daytime +15…+17 °C (59–63 °F). Wind northeast, 5–10 m/s, gusty. Pressure will drop to 756 mm Hg – below normal.

Wednesday, July 22: cloudy with clearings, brief rain, locally thunderstorms. Nighttime +12…+14 °C (54–57 °F), daytime +18…+20 °C (64–68 °F). Wind northeast, 3–8 m/s, gusty during thunderstorms. Pressure continues to fall – 752 mm Hg (below normal).

Thursday, July 23: cloudy with clearings, locally brief rain. Nighttime +12…+14 °C (54–57 °F), daytime +18…+20 °C (64–68 °F). Wind northwest, 4–9 m/s. Pressure changes little and will be 753 mm Hg – below normal.

Friday, July 24: variable cloudiness, no precipitation. Nighttime and morning locally foggy. Nighttime +11…+13 °C (52–55 °F), daytime +20…+22 °C (68–72 °F). Wind west, 3–8 m/s. Atmospheric pressure will begin to rise – 757 mm Hg, but remain below normal.

According to the preliminary forecast, on Saturday the city will come under the influence of a baric ridge, which will bring mostly dry weather and a slight increase in temperature – after noon the thermometers will rise to +22…+24 °C (72–75 °F).
