Maria Pogrebnyak backs Volgograd mother in custody fight
Maria Pogrebnyak spoke up for Regina. The latter insists that her son was taken from her.
Well-known TV presenter and ex-wife of footballer Pavel Pogrebnyak has intervened in a family dispute from Volgograd. The parents of a five-year-old boy cannot agree on their shared child, and each has their own version of events. The woman insists that her husband took their son to another city without her consent and is seeking through court to have the boy live with him. The man does not deny this and says that leaving the child with his mother is extremely dangerous for his health and psyche.

Maria Pogrebnyak«s appeal for help appeared on her social media on 17 August.
— I appeal to lawyers in Volgograd. Your help is badly needed in this case. We will not let them take the son from his mother, says Maria. — The father took the five-year-old child to Volgograd and effectively restricted his communication with his own mother. The mother had no choice but to move from another city to Volgograd as well in order to be near her son and actively take part in his life. Despite the fact that for all five years the child was always with his mother, it was the father who filed a claim to determine the child«s place of residence with him and also began demanding alimony from the mother.

V1.RU correspondents contacted Regina. According to her account, she and her husband lived together for nine years. For the past six years the family lived in Ufa. But, as Regina says, in April this year she left her husband.
— Two weeks ago we officially separated. I was tired of him. He knows how to put heavy pressure on a person. I gave up my profession — a manicurist — because of him. All those five years while I was raising the child, I asked my husband to let me go to work. And what I heard was: you are not going anywhere, says Regina. — He imposed some kind of guilt on me. I worked for my husband, all the money was his. But when I left him, I did not take a single kopeck from him.
According to Regina, she rented an apartment where she planned to live with her son. But, she says, one day her husband took the child and left for Volgograd.
— For two months I did not see my child. I sobbed every night and went to karaoke to relieve the stress somehow. Now he is blackmailing me with this. I am not a crook. I have an apartment, I have been working since I was 14. What man would live for nine years with an abnormal woman? Regina says. — For the sake of my son I rented an apartment in Volgograd so I could see him. But again my husband finds reasons not to let me have the child. Now he is seeking to have the child live with him while I pay alimony. Although for all those five years it was I who raised and brought up the child. He did not help me with this in any way. To all my requests he answered: «I am working».
Regina admits that for the past month she has been seeing the child and even spending the night at her ex-husband«s apartment. But, according to her, as soon as she turned to a lawyer for help, their relations escalated again.
— He bribes his son with expensive gifts. I do not have such an opportunity yet. And the child, naturally, chooses the expensive gifts and will not go for a walk with me, says the woman. — Yesterday he found out that I had been to see a lawyer. He got angry again. He forced me to sign documents so that I would give the child to him. To which I said that I would not sign anything.

Regina«s interests are represented by the well-known lawyer Edgar Karmazinovsky.
— The child«s father makes serious accusations concerning Regina»s health, lifestyle and behavior, refers to messages, individual video recordings, social media posts and information about the medical care she received. Regina categorically disagrees with such an interpretation of events and believes that the materials presented are used selectively, without regard to their context and the real circumstances of family life, the lawyer explained. — The reliability and evidentiary value of this information are still to be assessed by the court. Our goal is to ensure objective coverage of the situation, to protect the interests of the child and to prevent a public verdict on the mother before all the evidence has been examined.
«If you take him, I will kill you.» The father«s version
We contacted the boy«s father. In a conversation with a journalist, Nikolai confirmed that he does indeed want his son to live with him. At the same time, he does not intend to restrict his ex-wife»s communication with the child.
— I want to clarify right away: it was I who decided to stop living together and leave Regina when I realized that her очередной prolonged breakdown, inadequate behavior and drinking sprees were putting our son«s normal life at risk. She has repeatedly threatened to kill me and my parents. Even two years ago she wrote: «If you take him, I will kill you». The threats continue now, says the man. — All my arguments are based on facts, video recordings that she herself posted, and witness testimony. Our side is filing a motion for a comprehensive psychological and psychiatric examination. Professional psychiatric experts must give an official conclusion on how safe it is to leave the child with a person in such a state.
According to the man, for the past month his ex-wife has been living in his apartment and regularly seeing his son, about which she posts videos on social media.
— Our side has already sent an attachment to the claim — a proposed schedule for the mother«s communication and meetings with her son. It sets out in detail the specific days, hours and conditions of meetings so that the child can communicate fully with his mother, says Nikolai. — My goal is not to deprive the child of his mother, but to provide him with a permanent, safe and stable place of residence with me, while preserving the order of communication with his mother in accordance with the law.
The couple«s civil case is being heard in the Sovetsky District Court. The first hearing is scheduled for 1 September. V1.RU is following the developments.
