Katerina Shpitsa Faces Backlash Over Breastfeeding Photos

These photos sparked a heated debate among the actress«s followers
Perm actress Katerina Shpitsa shared photos with her followers of herself breastfeeding her son and explained her thoughts on nursing. Readers responded to her post with mixed feelings: some lashed out at the Perm native with sharp criticism, while others supported her with warm words.
On her Instagram* page, Katerina Shpitsa published several photos of herself breastfeeding her young son Bogdan, who was born on May 6. The post also included shots of the actress standing on stage with the child in her arms, her breast covered by fabric.
“I«m not a beef cow — I»m a dairy cow,” the actress wrote in the post. “In July 2012, I was filming the series ‘An Angel in the Heart’ with director Elena Nikolaeva. Herman (Shpitsa«s elder son — Ed. note) was four months old then, and I was breastfeeding him. Somewhere in my archive I have a photo of us (me, Herman, my mother, and Elena Vladislavovna) lying on a large wooden couch during a milk break. Elena Vladislavovna used to joke about me: ‘Some cows are beef cows, and some are dairy cows.’ Yes, I have a slender build, but thank God I had enough milk for Herman, and I hope things will go just as smoothly with Bogdasha for as long as we need. These moments of nursing are piercingly tender.”
The actress added that breastfeeding should be done “at the slightest opportunity, even if just a little.”
Followers in the comments split into two camps. There were those who spoke very negatively.
“Breastfeeding is such an intimate thing — why put it on the internet? For whom and for what?” one follower could not hold back.
“And do you also absolutely have to walk out on stage during a feeding?” another joined the argument.
“Lord, what a disgusting process,” a third added.
“It«s certainly happiness, but that happiness is yours personally — it»s not for show,” another follower shared her opinion.
“Why post breastfeeding? Is there no other place to feed? Or have you been forgotten so much that you«re trying to remind people of yourself?” a reader of Katerina Shpitsa»s blog fumed.
There were also supportive comments: Katerina Shpitsa«s female followers recalled how they had breastfed their own children and how wonderful it had been.
“I breastfed on a tram, at a football stadium, during a lecture (I was the lecturer), and even on a KVN jury,” one follower wrote. “It«s the most beautiful feeling in the world — I breastfed until the age of three.”
“How beautifully you speak about breastfeeding — I agree with every word! Everything you describe feels very close to me. This is true happiness,” another woman added.
“I gave birth seven times for moments like these,” wrote a reader of Shpitsa«s blog.
Earlier we reported that the slimmed-down Perm actress Svetlana Permyakova showed a selfie in a swimsuit.
