"Just to avoid work": Far North women offered early retirement — men react
A State Duma proposal for early retirement has generated immediate discontent among some residents.
Deputies of the State Duma, the lower house of Russia«s parliament, have proposed granting women who have worked in the Far North and given birth to one child the right to retire early. The conditions also include reaching the age of 50, having at least 20 years of insurance (pension) record, and having worked for no less than 12 years in the Far North or 17 years in equivalent areas. While women have largely welcomed the initiative, men in the Arkhangelsk Region have raised questions. Read how readers of 29.RU reacted to the proposal.
