Extortion and Threats: Renat Agzamov's Bitter Personal Life
Agzamov often said he adores sweets, while his wife dislikes desserts, but their disagreements did not end there.
While on screen Renat Agzamov and Konstantin Ivlev oppose each other in cooking shows, in reality they turned out to have much more in common. So, at the end of last year it became known that the famous chef is divorcing his wife, and a few months later information emerged that the star pastry chef is now a bachelor. Fans seriously worried: what is happening in the personal life of the beloved «king of cakes» and what could have destroyed a marriage that lasted more than ten years.
«Previously I was especially picky»
Renat Agzamov grew up in Sochi. There he met his first love, Natalya Dzhurilo. The young people made plans for the future, dreamed of a wedding and living together, but their dreams were not destined to come true.
From an early age, Renat was drawn to cooking. At first he cooked at home with his parents, then began experimenting and seeking new recipes. After one competition, he realized that to achieve his goals he needed to move to Moscow. Together with his brother, he packed his things and set off to conquer the capital.
The girl did not go with them, and gradually the relationship fizzled out, although Agzamov continued to feel only warm feelings for his once-beloved girl.
In the new place, it was not easy. Over a couple of years, Agzamov changed dozens of jobs. He wanted to create, experiment, but not every management was willing to tolerate that. Agzamov often found himself without money and was forced to sleep right at the train station, so there could be no talk of dates or looking for a girl.
The situation began to improve when Renat was hired as a pastry chef at the popular early-2000s restaurant «Nostalgie». There, Agzamov began creating unusual desserts that both culinary critics and show business stars wanted to try.
Agzamov began to be invited to caterings and asked to bake a special cake for birthdays and weddings. Thanks to one such event in the early 2010s, he met Valeria. She worked as a manager for the company where Agzamov rented equipment for a chocolate fountain.
The pastry chef fell madly in love with the striking brunette. They got married, and soon they had a son, whom Renat named after his brother — Timur.
As Agzamov himself admits, at the beginning of the relationship his wife had a very hard time. As demanding as the pastry chef was at work, he remained the same at home. Therefore, if something was wrong in the kitchen, it wasn«t a loving husband that kicked in, but a professional cook.
— «I used to be especially picky. I didn«t like product proximity, I demanded that all products in the refrigerator be marked, like at work,» Agzamov shared in one interview.
Valeria endured all his quirks and continued to appease her husband with delicious homemade food. As it turned out, the way to a man«s heart really is through his stomach, and at some point Renat became softer and allowed his wife to be the full-fledged mistress of the kitchen.
— «My wife cooks better than me! If she takes something on, she makes it so delicious that you can«t stop until you»ve eaten it all. No matter how much my mom and brother are offended, the most delicious borscht I«ve ever eaten in my life was created by my wife,» Renat boasted.
«He struck me more than twice in the stomach»
The spouses gave the impression of the happiest family. The star pastry chef rarely but always soulfully confessed his love to Valeria and told in his blog or interviews that it was she who inspired him to grow and create new unusual masterpieces.
— «My wife can be called a muse, because for most creations it is she who inspired me with her energy, soul, outlook on life. It is in a state of being in love that one can create and make real beauty,» Renat said poetically about his beloved.
Against the background of such a harmonious union, in 2017 it came as a surprise to those close to them to learn that Renat had a mistress. His very first love, Natalya, came forward on television. The woman swore up and down that the pastry chef had been cheating on his wife for a long time, and it was unknown how long it would have continued, but Natalya learned she was pregnant.
— «He was very nervous. He said that at that moment he wanted to kill me. He started pressuring me, calling, writing messages, «playing on my womanly feelings», telling me that because of illness my child would have Down syndrome, that the child could die, that I could die,» she complained.
Natalya also accused Agzamov of attacking and beating her, after which she suffered a miscarriage.
— «When I approached him, without a word he struck me more than twice in the stomach. The blows were sharp, I didn«t have time to do or say anything. While I was in pain, he kept saying a lot about how this would be good for both of us, that he would help me with money and so on. After that he ran away,» Dzhurilo recounted.
According to Natalya, after the ordeal she demanded money from Agzamov for treatment and recovery, which he gave. She promised that once he helped, he could forget about her once and for all.
— «I planned to receive 3 million rubles (approximately $33,300 at current rates) from Renat as compensation, to pay for an apartment and treatment, and also to pay off debts. I didn«t want to bother him anymore, I wanted to go to Sochi and continue treatment,» Natalya assured.
Agzamov, not believing his own ears, gave a rebuttal. According to him, everything between him and Natalya ended long ago and she was never pregnant by him. Learning that her former boyfriend had become famous, she wanted to cash in, and not getting money, she made up this story.
— «Before that, Natasha approached me with a request for help, asked me to give her money for treatment. I helped, after all we were once close. And then extortion and threats began. I even had to send my wife and son abroad. So I turned to the police, gave them all the audio recordings of conversations and messages she wrote to me,» Renat shared his version of events.
The pastry chef filed a police report against his former lover, and after an investigation she was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison.
Throughout the process, Valeria supported her husband and never doubted him. When the case was closed, it seemed the couple lived as before. Again joint trips, appearances at star events. But everything the couple went through still left a mark on their lives, and by 2024 they realized their marriage had run its course.
— «What happened? Divorce... Yes, a long time ago. We just don«t publicize it. We decided together. We have a friendly relationship, warm, basically everything is fine. I think the reason is simple — a long marriage. It happens... Our son lives with his dad and with me, in different ways,» Valeria Agzamova said frankly.
