After 32 Years, a Man Reunites with His Father and Finds Family

In the summer of 2025, the editorial office of 51.RU told the story of Ivan Kholodov from the Murmansk region, who after 32 years found his father and decided to travel to the Kursk region to see him for the first time in his life. Back then, a chance find on social media became the thread leading to the family from which he had been separated since childhood.

Now Ivan says: that meeting changed his life much more deeply than he could have imagined. Having lost his close ones early — his mother, grandmothers and grandfathers passed away when he was still a child — for the first time he felt what it means to be part of a big family.

In his life appeared a paternal grandmother who calls him «grandson» and wishes him health every time, and aunt Valya — the wife of his father«s brother, who had kept in touch with his mother for many years and was worried that Ivan might hold a grudge.

Since that meeting, he admits, the heavy burden of waiting and pain has lifted from both sides — from him and from those who for all these years feared that the child who once left would never return.

Ivan says he realized the main thing: there are no insurmountable barriers if one truly wants, searches, and believes. His family has grown, and he himself has become «richer in a spiritual sense» because now there are people nearby who sincerely care, rejoice, and accept without conditions.

This is exactly what he considers the main outcome of his story — genuine, not ostentatious, without self-interest, about kinship, warmth and love, which, according to him, are capable of changing lives.
