Saturday, 7 February

Lecture on noble upbringing at the Boratynsky Museum (16+)

Kazan residents are offered an accelerated course on becoming a true nobleman. The lecture «Between Rousseau and the Birch Rod: Noble Upbringing in 19th‑Century Russia» will provide a closer look at the educational practices of that era and reveal whether the nobility truly taught honor and independence as Pushkin wrote.

Creative Sled Festival «SunnyFEST» in Mamadysh (0+)
Once upon a time, sledding down a hill was the most accessible and popular pastime for children and adults alike. In Mamadysh, they decided to revive this good winter tradition and hold a contest for the coolest ride and the most beautiful sled. As part of the SunnyFEST festival, besides competitions, guests can enjoy a concert program, a fair, cozy tea gatherings with traditional treats, and hockey in felt boots.

Stand‑up Concert by Comedians from TNT Shows (18+)
The «Main Concert of the Week» will bring together the country«s best stand‑up comedians who have performed on »Stand‑up on TNT,« »Stand‑up Club #1,« the show »Toxics,« open mics, and other popular TV and online projects. The program features comedians Alexander Mokin, Zakhar Merzhoev, Misha Perekhodko, Ed Dorodniev, Yan Karpunkin, and Rita Shimova.

Photo Exhibition Presentation at the Gallery of Modern Art (18+)
Artist and curator Zhenya Nabieva will give an interactive lecture about the works and the meanings embedded in the exhibition. The exhibition explores themes of loneliness, betrayal, life in poverty, alcohol addiction, and other difficult situations where people need support. The exhibition «Shelter of Man – A Guiding Thread» is organized jointly with the production center Gorizont Films and the charity project «Shelter of Man.» The exhibition runs until 1 March.

Concert by Rapper Gunwest (18+)
Rapper Ruslan Gominov gained popularity not only for his outrageous style but also largely for his ability to generate non‑existent words that quickly became Gen‑Z memes. A case in point is the phrase «pepe shneyne vtfa,» which Gunwest heard in a dream. His first well‑known track in 2018 was «Zvezdopad.» He has also done collaborations with Natan, Instasamka, and Dzhigan. At the concert in Kazan, you can hear his popular songs «Nikotin,» «Kaifuli,» «Na rakhate,» and «Vika lyubit Pepe.»

Lecture on Modern Architecture at the National Library of Tatarstan (12+)
Head of the Architecture Department at the Kazan Development Institute, Artyom Moskalev, will explain how societal changes affect urban architecture and the principles behind the creation of modern buildings, and what features characterize different styles. The lecture «Technology Changes Architecture, or How Buildings Are Designed Today» will help you understand how to «read the era» from the buildings that surround us.

Opening of the Exhibition «Moments in the Mirror» at the Alafuzov Factory (18+)
Author Tatyana Yudina presents a candid autobiographical exhibition that encapsulates her entire life in a single show. Each of the 40 works tells about a specific period of her life, age, state, and views. Through this retrospective, viewers can fast‑forward through the process of growing up, changing, and gaining experience. The exhibition lasts exactly one day. Children may view the exhibition but strictly accompanied by adults.

Ski Descent «Steep Descent Kremlin» (18+)
One of the most anticipated winter events in Kazan – the ski festival at the foot of the Kremlin – will take place this Sunday. Dozens of Kazan residents on skis and snowboards will be able to slide down the slope of the city’s most prominent landmark and show off their skills. The descent is planned from the Kremlin walls to the pedestrian zone of Millennium Square. A steep descent with a jump is provided for professionals. A separate track will be organized for amateurs. Costumed and mass descents will take place as per tradition.

Interactive Lecture «Kazan Chic» (6+)
What did wealthy merchants in Kazan wear back when ordering outfits with a single click on a marketplace was not yet possible? What made the cut of their clothes special, and why did ornate jewelry and headdresses always play an important role in the Tatar appearance? These and other questions will be answered at the lecture «Kazan Chic: The Tatar Costume of the Merchant Class,» where you can not only learn about the history of costumes but also try on headdresses and take photos with jewelry.

Musical Fairy Tale «The Silver Hoof»
