Deputy of the Samara City Duma Dmitry Aseev published an ambitious plan of events for 2026 by the Samara Department of Culture and Youth Policy. According to the document, about 20,000 events have been prepared for residents and guests of the city — from major citywide holidays to professional competitions.

The plan includes everything: mass festivities, patriotic campaigns, professional forums, and talent support.

What Awaits Samara Residents on Holidays?

The calendar includes all major dates. After the success of the New Year complex on Kuybyshev Square, which this year was visited by 400,000 people, residents can expect a Maslenitsa fair with concerts and art objects on February 22.

Victory Day will certainly be celebrated — with a parade on Kuybyshev Square and a festival of children«s orchestras. In the summer, creative programs will be launched on the embankment and in parks, and in the fall, City Day will be celebrated. Also planned are Museum Night, Pushkin Day, and events for National Unity Day.

A separate block is dedicated to patriotic education. A series of events «For the Motherland» is planned for families of SVO participants, as well as events for Defender of the Fatherland Day, Russia Day, and the November 7 Memory Parade.

Culture for All and Talent Support

The authorities are betting on accessibility of culture. Events are aimed at different groups, including people with disabilities, children, and veterans.

At the same time, serious work will be done to identify gifted youth. Dozens of competitions will be held in the city: from young illustrators and jazz musicians to solfeggio experts. The 25 most talented students will receive a monthly city scholarship of 7,500 rubles ($82 at current rates).

For cultural professionals, scientific conferences and methodological weeks are planned, for example, «Young Professionals as Continuers of National Traditions.»

Anniversaries and Memorial Dates

2026 will also be rich in anniversaries. Samara residents can expect events dedicated to the 175th anniversary of the governorate, the 225th anniversary of Vladimir Dal, the 200th anniversary of Saltykov-Shchedrin, and the 120th anniversary of Agniya Barto. Special attention will be paid to the 120th anniversary of the birth of Dmitri Shostakovich, an honorary citizen of Samara.

As Deputy of the Samara City Duma Dmitry Aseev noted, the plan includes a total of 20,000 events, designed for two million spectators. With the city«s current population of 1.1 million, this means that cultural life in Samara next year will be extremely intense.
