Krasnoyarsk stylist faces fresh accusations
Nikolay Ovechkin, a stylist from Krasnoyarsk Krai, faces new accusations. Now, colleagues are speaking out about negative experiences working with him.
Stylist Nikolay Ovechkin was born in the village of Kirchizh, Birilyussky District, Krasnoyarsk Krai (Russia). He has worked with Svetlana Loboda, Diana Arbenina, Anna Asti, Zivert, and other performers.
Stylist Alexandra Panaitova spoke about an unsuccessful experience working with a fellow stylist. In a video on a banned social network, she says that, paired with another stylist, she worked on Anna Asti’s video «Tsaritsa» and also styled the singer Zivert for VK Fest (VK, formerly VKontakte) and other events. According to her, she was supposed to buy costumes for the artists with money allegedly transferred to her colleague. But, Panaitova says, she did not receive the money for purchases within the needed timeframe.
As a result, Alexandra allegedly bought clothing for the artists with her own money. Over a month, she spent about 1 million rubles (about $10,000 at current rates), Panaitova says, and, by her account, then spent several months trying to secure her project fee and reimbursement of the money she had spent.
She does not name the colleague stylist in the video, but clarifies in the comments that she is referring to Nikolay Ovechkin. According to her, she had not spoken about what happened earlier, but another post online «just pushed me over the edge».
She was likely referring to a post by the performer known as Instasamka — the day before she accused the stylist Nikolay Ovechkin of stealing 3 million rubles (about $30,000 at current rates) and threatened legal action.
Russian stylist Gosha Kartsev also weighed in. He has never worked as a pair with Ovechkin, but, he says, others have shared with him stories about negative experiences working with the stylist. Kartsev urged those affected not to remain silent and to join a class action.
Nikolay Ovechkin has not commented on the situation.
For Krasnoyarsk residents far from the fashion world, stylist Ovechkin is best known for his sharp statement about the style of local young women — specifically, their bangs.
«I have a brief statement. You know that my [most] favorite city on the planet is Krasnoyarsk — it’s my homeland. But there is a cultural capital, a northern capital, there is, for example, the capital of Tatarstan. And there is the capital of ***** [very badly] cut bangs. And that, in fact, is Krasnoyarsk. And, strangely enough, they are all in the airport,» he said.
In July, the stylist gave an interview to Ksenia Sobchak in which he spoke about his childhood in Krasnoyarsk Krai and his lack of affection for his hometown region.
