Lerchek Wanted to Go Abroad

Blogger Valeria Chekalina (Lerchek) also wanted to go abroad, though for a completely different purpose. After a course of chemotherapy, she planned to go to Belgrade and undergo vaccination there for recovery. Chekalina is currently accused of illegal currency operations related to conducting fitness marathons.

The blogger«s lawyers confirmed this information to TASS, but refused additional comments. At the same time, the defense denies that Lerchek violated her preventive measure and emphasizes that all established restrictions are strictly observed. According to the lawyer, for her client to travel abroad, she needed to coordinate the trip in advance with the authorized bodies.

In mid-July, it became known that Chekalina had completed her ninth course of chemotherapy, but the treatment is not over. Ahead is targeted therapy, which will need to be taken every two weeks.

The court sentenced Lerchek to five years of suspended imprisonment with a fine of almost 800 million rubles (about $9 million at current rates) and a ban on promoting her brand on the internet for three years. The prosecution had requested six years of suspended imprisonment for the blogger, as well as a fine of more than 1.2 billion rubles (about $14 million). Valeria did not admit guilt in committing illegal currency operations.

Gusein Gasanov Faces Prison

Another blogger has come to the attention of law enforcement. The prosecutor«s office is demanding that Gusein Gasanov be sentenced to six years of imprisonment in a general-regime colony. He is accused of money laundering.

According to the investigation, Gasanov did not pay taxes in the amount of 170 million rubles (about $2 million at current rates), and then legalized part of the funds, spending them on purchasing real estate. The blogger himself does not admit guilt and claims that he fully repaid the tax debt. His defense insists on an acquittal and states that there is no evidence in the case materials of intent to legalize money.

Gasanov is currently outside Russia. He left the country shortly before he was arrested in absentia and put on the wanted list in spring 2025. The trial is being conducted in absentia, and a verdict is expected soon.

Victoria Bonya Quarreled with Ksenia Borodina

A conflict erupted between bloggers Victoria Bonya and Ksenia Borodina because of a careless comment. The reason was the publication of a video with Ksenia — the TV host was unhappy with how she turned out in the frame. In her opinion, the video was shot from an unflattering angle and too close.
