Free ice rinks, festivals, quests, and exhibitions: How to celebrate Student's Day in Moscow

This Sunday, 25 January, Moscow will celebrate Student«s Day, also known as Tatyana»s Day, on a grand scale. Dozens of venues across the city will host concerts, master classes, shows, lectures, and other festive events. Also on this day, many establishments offer free admission to all women named Tatyana.

«Student Weekend» at VDNKh

The main event location this year will be VDNKh (Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy). On 25 January, students and women named Tatyana will be able to visit for free many of VDNKh«s museum and exhibition spaces. With the appropriate ID at the entrance, free access is granted to the »Cosmonautics and Aviation« Center, the »Atom« Museum, the »Slovo« Museum of Slavic Writing, the »Buran« Museum Complex, and Pavilion No. 1 »Central«. Students and women named Tatyana will also get free entry to the »You Look 100!« exhibition in the pavilion of the Moscow Transport Museum—tickets can be obtained on-site by showing ID.

At the «Cosmonautics and Aviation» Center, free guided tours titled «Time of the First. Students of Space» will be held at 5:00 PM and 7:30 PM, participation is possible with prior registration. Pavilion No. 1 «Central» will host a free tour of the exhibition «The Image of Moscow in Russian Art from the Collection of the State Russian Museum». Visitors will be told, among other things, about Tatyana«s Day traditions. Participation requires prior booking; tickets will be issued to registered participants 10 minutes before the tour starts.
The «City Farm» at VDNKh can be visited for free by women named Tatyana upon showing a passport or birth certificate. Students get a 40% discount with a student ID, and high-achieving students—free entry by showing their grade book with marks from the first session of 2026.
On 25 January, the art space Futurione will admit all women named Tatyana for free from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM upon showing ID confirming the name. The same promotion applies to the exhibition «Volga. Moscow. Neva. Saratov Symbolists in Moscow and Leningrad in the 1920s–1940s» in the «Worker and Kolkhoz Woman» pavilion, where free entry is provided for both women named Tatyana and students.
At the «Biotech» Museum, a special ticket priced at 100 rubles (about $1 at current rates) has been set for students and women named Tatyana, which includes a one-hour guided tour of the exhibition accompanied by biotech specialists.
On 24 and 25 January, a 50% discount on the cable car at VDNKh will be available for students and women named Tatyana. Tickets are sold at the «Orion» park information center and at the ticket office of the cable car«s Northern Station.
The «Robostation» offers a 30% discount on admission tickets upon showing ID, and at the «Kulibinpro» workshop, students and women named Tatyana get a 50% discount on participation in master classes.
Free Ice Rinks
VDNKh Ice Rink. On 25 January from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, all students get a 25% discount on the rink with a student ID, and female students named Tatyana can skate for free all day. From 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM, a DJ will play music at the rink, and artists «Tima Ischet Svet» and Anton Tokarev will perform.
Ice Rinks in Moscow Parks. Students and visitors named Tatyana can skate for free at ice rinks in the parks. At the entrance, you need to show a student ID or passport. Find the addresses of the rinks and other venues hosting holiday events on the interactive map.
Ice Rink at the Northern River Terminal. On 25 January, students get free skate rentals. To do this, you need to register for the desired session and bring your student ID and passport. From 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM, DJ Nejtrino will perform at the rink.
Ice Rink at Luzhniki. Free tickets for the holiday program are being given out to students. To get them, you need to book a ticket and then pick it up at the «Molodyozh Moskvy» (Moscow Youth) space. On 25 January, dance music will be played at the rink all day. The band «Sobachy Lie» will perform at the 12:30 PM session. At the 4:00 PM session—performer Trofim Grann, and from 7:00 PM—DJ Calypso.
Sports Festival at Luzhniki
For Student«s Day, a sports festival will be held at Luzhniki, with the main venues being the Luzhniki ice rink, as well as the supporting rinks »Avangard« and »Bittsa«. The program includes sports activities, themed photo zones, musical accompaniment, and interactive activities for guests. Commemorative prizes and surprises are planned for the most active participants.
«Student Filmmaking» at Moskino Film Park
On 24 and 25 January, admission to the Moskino Film Park will be free for students with a student ID. On the same days, the «Student Filmmaking» promotion will be held here: university and college students can book one of more than ten filming locations to realize their own projects. To participate, you must fill out a form and confirm the booking by phone after a call from the manager.
Simultaneously, an entertainment and educational program for students and guests will be held at the film park. In the hall of the Educational Center, master classes in acting, stage choreography, storyboarding, dubbing, and animation will be held.
Free Sessions at the Chaika Pool
From 23 to 25 January, the open-air «Chaika» (Seagull) pool will provide students and women named Tatyana with one free visit upon showing a student ID or passport. The visit includes access to the open heated pools, a relaxation zone with hydromassage, aqua aerobics classes, and group training sessions according to the schedule. Visitors must have a swimming cap and indoor shoes; a towel can be rented on site.
Concerts, Shows, and Games on Sparrow Hills
On 25 January, the «Winter in Moscow» site on Sparrow Hills invites students to celebrate Tatyana«s Day. From 6:00 PM, guests can enjoy traditional Russian pastimes (curling, sack fights, spoon shooting gallery), a dance floor, and tea. From 7:00 PM, a concert by the »Symphomultimedia« orchestra and a multimedia show on the facade of the Palace of Pioneers will begin. Throughout the evening, you can participate in a quest with prizes, attend master classes, and also skate or ski for free. A complimentary treat from the »Vstrecha Druzei« (Meeting of Friends) restaurant is offered to girls named Tatyana.
Youth Cruises on River Electric Boats
As part of themed youth cruises on river electric boats, various activities are planned for passengers. The program includes an intellectual game with questions about Moscow and its history, as well as a youth stand-up show with the participation of students from the capital«s universities. A great opportunity to socialize and make new acquaintances.
College Student Gastronomic Festival at «Tri Vokzala. Depo»
On 25 January from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM, a gastronomic festival of college students will be held at the public space «Tri Vokzala. Depo» (Three Stations. Depot). Anyone can participate in the event. The program includes master classes, musical performances, prize drawings, and interactive activities. On this day, dishes developed by college students will appear on the food hall«s menu and can be tried in the zones of six corners, including »Kolobok«, »Vezhlivye Uzbeks« (Polite Uzbeks), »Lyulya & Co«, Shawa, Wok, and Mondo Matto.
Guests will also be able to participate in a gastronomic battle, take part in career guidance activities, operate agricultural robots, and assemble an art object from large-scale building blocks. The festival«s headliner will be musician Antoha MC.
«Choir for the Whole Courtyard» in the Hermitage Garden
On 25 January at 5:00 PM, a musical meeting with the project «Choir for the Whole Courtyard» will be held in the Hermitage Garden. Participants will be invited to perform well-known and heartfelt songs together, with the lyrics displayed on a screen. The format of the evening involves live sound, informal communication, and an intimate atmosphere of communal singing.
