Sisters Arina and Dina Averina have finally broken their silence about the scandal involving Yana Koshkina«s mother on the show »Treasures of the Emperor.« During the third season, Margo expressed displeasure that hosts Olga Buzova and Mikhail Galustyan introduced the athletes as Olympic champions, even though only one of them is an Olympic medalist.

The sharp remark by the star«s mother sparked heated online discussions. The woman and her daughter Yana Koshkina began to be »canceled« on social media. The hate was so intense that the actress had to record a video address.
«The fact that the girls are Olympic champions in the hearts of Russians is a fact. It»s also a fact that Russia didn«t win gold at that Olympics,» Yana said in defense of her mother.
However, she soon deleted her explanation from social media. The Averina sisters did not react to it then, nor did they fan the flames. For the first time, the girls revealed their emotions months later on figure skater Evgenia Medvedeva«s show.
«We didn»t ask the hosts to call us that; it«s just that after the Olympics people started calling us that as a form of support. I wanted to respond simply as a human being, but I understood that a conflict might start. And our parents taught us from childhood that sometimes it»s better to stay silent to avoid blowing things up,« shared Arina Averina.
Dina helped her sister hold back from harsh replies. She asked Arina not to react to Margo«s words. The sisters admitted they were surprised by the sudden attack — they were simply sitting as a team discussing the day»s events.
«We didn»t expect to hear that,« Dina admitted.
While on the project, the athletes never imagined their brief exchange would turn into such a uproar after the broadcast. According to the Averinas, neither Margo nor Yana apologized to them for their words.
«We don»t communicate or have any contact. Fans started sending us her video address. I don«t consider it an apology; she was just expressing her opinion — one more reason to offend us,» the Averinas shared.
