Analysts Identify Luckiest Generation in Lotteries

Analysts from the National Lottery studied data from winners who won at least one million rubles (approximately $10,000 at current rates) in 2025 and determined the birth years associated with the greatest luck.
According to the results, those born in 1970 won most often, with 68 such winners recorded. The top luckiest also included:
- 1983, 1986, and 1988 birth years (36 millionaires each)
- 1979 birth year (34 millionaires)
- 1978, 1980, and 1987 birth years (28 millionaires each)
«Thus, the largest number of wins from a million rubles came from participants born in the late 1970s to 1980s,» stated the analysts.
Separately, the oldest prize holder of 500,000 rubles (approximately $5,000) is noted. This was a person born in 1937, who was 88 years old at the time of the win.
In terms of generations, Generation X (born between 1963 and 1983) turned out to be the luckiest, accounting for 49.4% of all lottery millionaires. Next are:
- Millennials (1983–2003) — 36.3%
- Baby Boomers (1943–1963) — 13%
- Generation Z (2000–2011) — 1%
- Silent Generation (1923–1943) — 0.3%
