Analysts identify luckiest generation for lottery wins

The National Lottery analyzed data from lucky winners who won amounts from one million rubles (about $10,000 at current rates) in 2025 and determined the birth years of the winners.
It turned out that luck most often accompanied those born in 1970. In this age group, 68 winners were recorded in a year. Also in the top happiest were birth years 1983, 1986, and 1988 (36 millionaire winners each, with prizes of about $10,000), 1979 (34 millionaires), and 1978, 1980, and 1987 (28 millionaires each).
«Thus, the greatest number of wins from a million rubles fell to participants born in the late 1970s — 1980s,» analysts stated.
By the way, the oldest participant to win a prize from 500 thousand rubles (about $5,000 at current rates) was a person born in 1937. At the time of the win, he was 88 years old.
If we take generations as a whole, the luckiest in lotteries was recognized as so-called Generation X (born 1963–1983). They accounted for 49.4% of all lottery millionaires. In second place were millennials (born 1983–2003), who made up 36.3% of winners with large prizes. Baby boomers (1943–1963) received 13% of million-ruble prizes. However, the share of Generation Z representatives (2000–2011) was only 1% of all lucky ones, and the Silent Generation (1923–1943) — 0.3%.
