Schools in Volgograd Oblast continue to switch to remote learning or cancel classes entirely. In Kamyshin, this meant an unscheduled day off for the youngest students. The decision was due to severe weather conditions, including extreme cold.

Earlier, the regional education committee announced that schools in nine cities and districts would switch to remote learning: source.

Municipalities affected by the switch to remote learning:

  • Kamyshinsky District

  • Kotovsky District

A school in Kamyshin confirmed to a V1.RU correspondent that classes for grades 1–4 would not be held on 5 February due to the frost. Thursday will be a day off even from remote lessons.

The regional education committee reiterated that there is no general rule for canceling school due to frost.

“Decisions to cancel classes in districts are made independently—there are no unified standards regulating cancellations based on weather conditions. Due to climate differences and varying temperatures, as well as geographical location, municipalities set their own standards.”
