Schools in Chita Shift to Remote Learning Due to Freezing Temperatures

Remote learning will be organized through the messenger app MAKH.
The education committee of the Chita administration has decided to switch schools to remote learning. This was reported to a correspondent of Chita.Ru by the committee on January 21.
According to the committee«s press secretary Geser Radnaev, all 54 schools in Chita will study remotely from January 22 to 24. This is due to dropping temperatures. The corresponding resolution was signed by the city administration.
Starting Monday, January 26, schoolchildren will return to in-person learning.
In parent group chats, homeroom teachers have started sending notifications about the need to download the messenger app MAKH, as remote learning will take place through it.
The strongest frosts in January in Transbaikal, according to forecasters, were expected in the last week of the month. But the cold came already on the 12th — in most areas, air temperatures dropped to -35…-40 °C (-31…-40 °F) at night, with frosts intensifying to -48 °C (-54 °F) in northern regions. On January 21, the Upravlenie Dorog «Zabaikalye» (Transbaikal Road Administration) notified that more than 100 units of special equipment are on duty on federal highways in the region due to the frosts. The regional EMERCOM (Ministry of Emergency Situations) department reported that mobile heating points are on constant standby and will be deployed if necessary.
