Students in grades 1-4 in Voronezh schools will remain on remote learning until at least February 5 inclusive. This was announced by Mayor Sergey Petrin.
Primary school students were placed on remote learning from February 2 due to severe frosts. The weather in Voronezh is not expected to warm up in the coming days: forecasters predict up to -30°C (-22°F) until the sixth. If there is no one to leave the child at home, they can still be brought to school — teachers will be there, the mayor explained.
Kindergartens continue to operate normally. However, parents have previously been asked not to bring children to kindergarten in severe frost if possible.
The regional Ministry of Education recommended that schools cancel classes according to the following scheme:
at -25°C (-13°F) and below — for students in grades 1-4;
at -27°C (-17°F) and below — for students in grades 5-8;
at -29°C (-20°F) and below — for students in grades 9-11.
As of February 2, 30 schools across the region were fully switched to remote learning. And in two hundred schools, grades 1-4 were moved to remote learning.
