Putin's decree introduces new higher education system at UrFU

Students at Ural Federal University will be among the first to experience the revamped higher education levels.
Vladimir Putin by his decree included Ural Federal University (UrFU) in a pilot project for transitioning to a new system of higher education. This was reported by the press service of UrFU.
According to the document, this summer the university will enroll freshmen not only in bachelor«s, specialist»s, and master«s programs, but also in new levels — basic higher and specialized higher education.
“The university is ready to pilot the transition to a new model of higher education: we have assembled a strong team, studied the experience of participants in the first stage of the project, conducted extensive preparatory work at the institute level,” says acting rector of UrFU Ilya Obabkov. “We are grateful for the trust. I am confident that the university«s experience and the competencies of the teachers will ensure the training of personnel for solving the tasks of technological sovereignty and leadership.”
Recall that earlier, by order of the president, Russia began developing a domestic system of higher education. Initially, six universities participated in the pilot project, and now 11 more universities have joined.
