Omsk School Temporarily Closed; Reason Is Illness Outbreak

A secondary school in Omsk has been fully closed and 27 classes in six schools shut down due to an ARVI outbreak, city authorities reported.

By the end of January in Omsk, due to ARVI incidence, 27 classes in six schools were closed. Secondary School No. 2, located at 5th Kordnaya Street, 43a, is completely closed. This was reported by NGS55.RU from the city mayor«s office.

«As of 30 January 2026, the educational process has been suspended due to ARVI incidence in 27 classes of six schools (School No. 2 is fully closed) and 31 groups of 24 kindergartens,» explained the Omsk administration.

After the January holidays, the head of the regional Ministry of Health, Dmitry Markelov, urged Omsk residents to stay home if they feel unwell. He recommended not engaging in active social life with symptoms of flu or ARVI.

Earlier, the regional Ministry of Health told NGS55.RU that in the Omsk region over three years, the number of children with newly diagnosed epilepsy increased. Thus, in 2024, the diagnosis was first given to 201 children, compared to 194 cases in 2023.
