Omsk Region Enters Top 10 for Foreign Students
The region ranked 6th in Russia for number of foreign students, with 9,400 international students making up 12.6% of total enrollment.

Omsk region entered the top ten Russian regions by number of foreign students. This was reported to Kommersant by the Ministry of Education and Science.
Our region ranked sixth in the rating. Currently, 9,400 foreign students are studying in Omsk — that is 12.6% of the total number of students. In terms of the number of foreign students, the region surpassed the Republic of Bashkortostan, Novosibirsk, Rostov, and Volgograd regions.
The top three were Moscow (98,976 foreign students), St. Petersburg (36,790), and the Republic of Tatarstan (17,591).
The most popular field of study among foreigners across Russia remains General Medicine. 67,921 people enrolled in medical universities.
Earlier, NGS55.RU reported that almost 400 participants of the Special Military Operation (SVO) and their children enrolled in Omsk universities. In total, SVO participants and their children submitted 2,609 applications to Omsk universities, which is 2.5 times higher than in 2024.
