Modular building for classrooms starts near college dormitory

Modular building with classrooms started construction near the dormitory of Chita Polytechnic College on 9th Yanvarya Street. Chita.Ru was told about the construction on 21 July by college director Lyudmila Emelyanova.

The new building with an area of 221.3 sq m will house three classrooms, a cloakroom, a sanitary block, and a methodical room. The premises are intended for practical classes for students in the specialties «Electric power stations, networks and systems» and «Heat supply and heat engineering equipment». Up to 60 people can study simultaneously.
According to Emelyanova, the need to expand the training base is due to the growing demand for power engineers. New power units are being built in Zabaykalsky Krai, including at the Kharanorskaya GRES (state district power plant), which increases the need for qualified personnel and raises the college«s admission targets.
«Kharanorskaya GRES is currently in the active phase of construction of two new power units. The demand for personnel there is very high. It is important for us that employers trust the college to train such specialists. At the same time, existing facilities are no longer sufficient, and the material and technical base cannot always be updated in a timely manner, since the equipment for training heat power engineers is very expensive. We are talking about tens of millions of rubles. Therefore, Inter RAO allocated 40 million rubles (approximately 400,000 USD at current rates) to the college as charitable aid for 2026. We greatly appreciate this contribution from the employer, because we would not have been able to build a training ground or provide the educational process with modern equipment on our own,» says Lyudmila Emelyanova.
For the educational process, stands, models, and equipment used at heat power facilities, including models of boilers and turbines, will be purchased. At the same time, two specialized classrooms are being renovated at the college.
The construction is being carried out by the company BuryatTechResource from Ulan-Ude. According to the college director, the work is about 40% complete and is on schedule. They plan to complete construction and open the new training ground by the start of the new academic year.
Construction of the fourth and fifth power units with a total capacity of 460 megawatts started at the Kharanorskaya GRES in Zabaykalsky Krai on 26 December 2025. The current installed capacity of Kharanorskaya GRES is 665 MW.
