Governor: Novosibirsk State University campus to open fully this year
A meeting was held on creating world-class campuses and advanced schools in Russia.
Construction of a world-class campus for Novosibirsk State University is entering its final stage. Regional authorities confirmed that the facilities will be delivered on time, and the entire campus is planned to be put into operation this year. Governor Andrey Travnikov reported this to Deputy Chairman of the Russian Government Dmitry Chernyshenko at a federal meeting.
Campuses across the country – Novosibirsk among the first
The meeting was dedicated to creating a network of modern university campuses and advanced schools in Russia. As Dmitry Chernyshenko reminded, the project is being implemented under the national project «Youth and Children». By presidential order, by 2030, at least 25 world-class campuses should appear in the country, and by 2036 – at least 40.
Some of these facilities are already open: new buildings and dormitories have launched in Yekaterinburg, Kaliningrad, and Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. This year, according to the vice-premier, they plan to fully complete campuses in Kaliningrad and Novosibirsk, as well as a number of facilities in other regions.
In Novosibirsk, the entire NSU campus is preparing for launch
Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Ayrat Gatiyatov reported that in Novosibirsk, the entire NSU campus is preparing for commissioning. The project is being implemented by the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education jointly with the public-law company «Unified Customer in the Construction Sector», which is responsible for coordinating works, timelines, and quality.
The federal ministry emphasizes that it is fundamentally important for each facility to be brought to completion and delivered in the declared volumes and on time.
What has already been built and what is being completed now
The NSU campus is being built in stages. The first phase was completed back in 2024. It included:
academic building and leisure center of the NSU specialized educational and scientific center;
dormitory complex with 690 places.
This is already operational infrastructure used by students.
The second phase includes three more facilities. One of them is a lecture hall building with a student project center, scientific library, and passageway. It was fully equipped in 2025, and the educational process there began on September 1.
On the two other facilities – the research center and the educational and scientific center of the NSU Institute of Medicine and Psychology – construction and installation works are currently underway.
Speaking at the meeting, Governor Andrey Travnikov emphasized that there is no doubt about meeting the deadlines: all works are on schedule, and the facilities will be completed on time.
