According to the Murmansk Hydrometeorological Service (Murmansk UGMS), tomorrow, 30 January, in Murmansk, a west, southwest wind of 2–7 m/s is expected, along with bay fog, hoar frost. Temperature of -23…-21°C (-9…-6°F), in the region -25…-20°C (-13…-4°F), with clear spells -32…-27°C (-26…-17°F) (Kola, Pechenga, Lovozero districts, western Kandalaksha district, Apatity, Monchegorsk). Icy conditions.

The Ministry of Education and Science of the region reminds about the school operation mode in bad weather.

In case of strong wind or frosts, parents independently decide whether the child will go to school (if staying at home — it is necessary to inform the class teacher), and principals — about canceling classes or switching to remote learning.

When making a decision, one should be guided by the following indicators.

In primary classes, classes are canceled:

-25°C (-13°F) and no wind;

  • -23°C (-9°F) and light wind up to 1–3 m/s;

  • -21°C (-6°F) and moderate wind up to 35 m/s;

  • -19°C (-2°F) and strong wind up to 8–10 m/s.

    If a child comes to school, for him (with any number of children) the educational process must be organized in the established mode.

    Physical education classes outdoors are canceled:

    for pupils up to 12 years at -13…11°C (9…52°F) and light wind, at -9…-7°C (16…19°F) and moderate wind, at -5…-4°C (23…25°F) and strong wind;

  • for pupils 12–13 years at -15°C (5°F) and light wind, at -11°C (12°F) and moderate wind, at -8°C (18°F) and strong wind;

  • for pupils 14–15 years at -18°C (0°F) and light wind, at -15°C (5°F) and moderate wind, at -11°C (12°F) and strong wind;

  • for teenagers 16–17 years at -21°C (-6°F) and no wind, at -18°C (0°F) and moderate wind, at -13°C (9°F) and strong wind.

    The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MChS) reminded northerners what to do during frosts.
