Couple Attempted Bribe for Son's Flight School

To become a civil aviation pilot is the dream of many young men.
In Saratov Region, criminal proceedings have been initiated against a married couple for attempted bribery. They wanted to pay to get their child admitted to a school.
The press service of the regional Investigative Committee reports that the 39-year-old woman and her 55-year-old husband attempted to pay 2.1 million rubles (about $22,800 at current rates) to an official at a secondary vocational education institution. The events took place from May to July 2024. The parents hoped to secure their son«s admission to the educational institution. However, they were unable to carry out the plan »due to circumstances beyond their control.« Investigators opened a criminal case based on materials from the regional FSB. Investigative activities are currently underway with the suspects.
Source 164.ru clarified that it concerns the Krasnokutsk Flight School of Civil Aviation. The high bribe amount may be due to the fact that the annual tuition for first- and second-year cadets is 2.55 million rubles (about $27,700 at current rates).
