Chelyabinsk Parents Protest Ban on Homework Answer Sites

The proposed ban targets online resources that provide answers to school homework and exam questions.
In late January, the Ministry of Education developed a bill providing for the blocking of sites with ready-made homework, exam solutions, and olympiad tasks. According to the document, these measures are intended to encourage schoolchildren to work independently and improve the quality of education.
It is expected that Roskomnadzor will carry out the blocking of internet resources publishing answers from textbooks and olympiad assignments.
In the State Duma, an alternative approach was proposed. Yana Lantratova, head of the committee on civil society development, believes that instead of blocking, the format of homework should be changed to make it more creative.
These initiatives have sparked a lively discussion among parents of schoolchildren in Chelyabinsk. Many admit that they regularly turn to ready-made homework because they can«t always understand the conditions of the tasks.
One user wrote:
«First, let schools explain properly so that children can do their homework at home without resorting to ready-made homework. Our whole family turns to it just to see an example solution, because the child has a blank mind, and often he says that the teacher just said: »figure it out at home,« and gave the assignment. And what are we supposed to do, all engineers, technologists, solve these tasks that we forgot 20 years ago.»
Another participant shared:
«Anticipating the phrase: »you gave birth for yourselves, so figure it out yourselves.« To hell with the volume of assignments, but leave parents the ready-made homework.»
«In textbooks, the assignments are sometimes formulated so unclearly that I, as a parent, occasionally looked there myself. It»s a matter of self-discipline — my son, knowing about ready-made homework, still did everything himself,« believes Yekaterina.
A mother of two children fears:
«If I start delving into all the »homework« of two schoolchildren now, then who will work and feed them for me?»
Some parents recalled their school years. «I finished school 25 years ago. So, even we had ready-made homework, but they were in the form of books and we bought them at »Yunost« on book stalls. I wasn»t that bad a student, but such books were practically everyone«s. There»s nothing bad in it, they give an understanding of how to solve. I am against blocking the site with ready-made homework,« said Irina.
«And in our childhood, ready-made homework was sold at »Rospechat«,» recalled Natalia. «But the solution wasn»t detailed, so it was immediately clear who copied.«
Another user suggested:
«Block the channels [with ready-made homework], and write the answers at the end of the textbook, like in crosswords.»
