Chelyabinsk Parents Oppose Blocking Homework Solution Sites

In late January, the Ministry of Education prepared a bill to block online ready-made homework assignments, exam solutions, and olympiad tasks. They believe that the new measures should motivate schoolchildren to work independently and improve the quality of education.
It is planned that Roskomnadzor will block websites that publish solutions from textbooks and olympiad tasks.
Against this backdrop, the State Duma proposed a different approach — to change the format of homework, assigning more creative tasks. This opinion was expressed to TASS by Yana Lantratova, chair of the State Duma Committee on Civil Society Development. She is sure that blocking websites will not solve the problem.
These initiatives have sparked a real storm of emotions among parents of schoolchildren who read 74.RU. They admitted that they regularly use resources with homework solutions because they simply cannot understand the meaning of the assignment from the textbook.
«First, let schools explain properly so that children can do their homework at home themselves, without resorting to homework solutions. Our whole family goes there just to see an example of a solution, because the child has a blank mind, and often he says that the teacher simply said: »Figure it out at home« and gave the assignment. And what are we supposed to do, all engineers, technologists, to solve these tasks that we forgot 20 years ago?» wrote a frustrated user.
«Anticipating the phrase: »You had them for yourselves, so deal with it yourselves.« To hell with the volume of assignments, but leave parents the homework solutions,» shared a subscriber.
«In textbooks, assignments are sometimes formulated so unclearly that I, as a parent, have occasionally looked there myself. It»s a matter of self-discipline — my son, knowing about homework solutions, still did everything himself,« believes Yekaterina.
«If I start delving into all the »homework« for two schoolchildren now, then who will work and feed them for me?» worries a mother of two.
Against this backdrop, many parents recalled their own school years.
«I finished school 25 years ago. So, even we had homework solutions, but they were in the form of books, and we bought them at »Yunosti« (a store) at book stalls. I wasn»t such a bad student, but such books were practically everyone«s. There»s nothing bad in it, they give an understanding of how to solve. I am against blocking the site with homework solutions,« said Irina.
«And in our childhood, they sold homework solutions at »Rospechati« (a printing house),» recalled Natalya. «But the solution there was not detailed, so it was immediately clear who copied.»
«Block the channels [with homework solutions], but write the answers at the end of the textbook, like in crosswords,» wrote a user.
