20-Degree Frost Hits Ryazan. Can School Be Skipped? City Hall Answers

The new work week will be abnormally cold for residents of Ryazan. The temperature dropped to -22°C (-8°F) on 2 February and will remain at around -15°C (5°F) until Friday. In such frost, schoolchildren and their parents are concerned about one question: can they skip school?
The editorial office of YA62.RU found out the answer to this question from the press service of the Ryazan administration.
«When the air temperature drops, educational institutions operate as usual. They accept all students and ensure the educational process. Nothing closes here,» noted the press service of the city hall.
But they added that parents can decide for themselves whether to bring their child to school or not. To miss a day without writing explanatory notes, one can skip school at the following temperatures:
from -20°C (-4°F) — elementary school (grades 1-4);
from -25°C (-13°F) — middle school (grades 5-9);
from -30°C (-22°F) — high school (grades 10-11).
«The temperature regime has been adopted by the Ministry of Education. If parents leave their child at home, they must inform the homeroom teacher. The teacher records who comes and who does not,» added the press service of the administration.
If a child misses school due to frost and the temperature corresponded to the approved one, no explanatory notes or certificates will be required. The main thing is to warn the homeroom teacher.
