Saratov spent over 65 billion rubles on officials

More than 60 billion rubles (approximately 600 million USD at current rates) were spent in 2024 on salaries of state employees in the Saratov region and staff working in regional state institutions, according to a finance ministry report.
As of January 1, 2025, state positions in the Saratov region (ministries, committees, departments) were held by 2,448 people. In 2024, the budget spent 2.86 billion rubles (approximately 28.6 million USD) on salaries and related accruals. Another 62.48 billion rubles (approximately 624.8 million USD) went to similar expenses for employees of state institutions, which number 78,744 people.
Based on this data, the average annual expenditure on salaries and mandatory contributions for one official amounted to 1.17 million rubles (11,700 USD), or 97,000 rubles per month (970 USD). For budget employees, the figures are significantly lower — 793,000 rubles (7,930 USD) annually and 66,000 rubles (660 USD) per month, respectively.
