Ryazan vegetable price surge makes healthy eating costlier

Healthy eating has become less affordable for residents of Ryazan due to a sharp increase in the price of fresh vegetables. The biggest weekly jump was seen in cucumbers — a kilogram now costs 315 rubles ($3 at current rates). That is 7.2% more than seven days ago, as the editors of YA62.RU discovered from official statistics documents.
Prices from statistics are averages and may differ in stores.
Other vegetables also rose in price:
- beets — 35 rubles ($0.35 at current rates) (up 6.1%);
- tomatoes — 262 rubles ($3 at current rates) (up 4.9%);
- carrots — 33 rubles ($0.33 at current rates) (up 2.8%);
- onions — 44 rubles ($0.44 at current rates) (up 1.4%).
All prices are per kilogram.
Meat prices in Ryazan remain the most stable. They have not changed at all over the past week. Lamb costs 919 rubles ($9 at current rates), beef — 689 rubles ($7 at current rates), pork — 370 rubles ($4 at current rates), and chicken — 193 rubles ($2 at current rates).
Other prices in Ryazan remained unchanged.
