All assets of the Ulyanovsk City Electricity Grid (Ulyanovskaya gorodskaya elektroset, UlGES) are being transferred to the «Ulyanovsk Grids» branch of PJSC Rosseti Volga. This was reported by the regional Legislative Assembly. As of January 1, UlGES was stripped of its status as a territorial grid operator. The Ulyanovsk Region Agency for Price and Tariff Regulation refused to approve the 2026 tariff for the city«s electricity grid. Consequently, all of UlGES»s equipment must be handed over to the system-forming territorial grid operator. An audit of the existing equipment is currently underway, and emergency restoration work is being planned.

The employees of JSC UlGES, numbering 470 people, are also expected to continue working within the new structure.

«The main concerns for the deputies in the current situation with UlGES are the preservation of the city enterprise»s personnel and the reliability of power supply to consumers,« emphasized Denis Sedov, chairman of the parliamentary committee.

Separately, according to the parliamentarians, the issue of buying out UlGES«s debt to JSC Ulyanovskenergo will be resolved to terminate the bankruptcy proceedings.

For reference, the Ulyanovsk City Electricity Grid is one of the city«s oldest enterprises. It was founded on January 1, 1913, simultaneously with the launch of the first power plant in Simbirsk (the former name of Ulyanovsk). UlGES manages 874.855 kilometers of overhead lines and 2,431.423 kilometers of cable power lines.
